What’s included in the price?

Your Wander Weekend includes return flights (where applicable), accommodation, car rental, curated activities, a mystery dining experience, and a personalised itinerary. The price is for two travellers unless it’s our Solo Wanderer package. 

Meal inclusions vary depending on your package, budget, and preferences. All Wander Weekends include at least one curated dining experience, with additional meals or food experiences included where budget allows.

We work closely with trusted suppliers to stretch your budget further, so you get maximum value from your time away. We also love surprising our guests with extra touches along the way.

Why does it cost what it does?

Flights and accommodation make up the largest portion of the cost – but you’re also paying for time saved, expert curation, and a completely seamless experience. We research, book, coordinate, and plan every detail so you don’t have to. Most guests find the overall value is comparable to (or better than) booking everything themselves – without the stress or endless tabs.

Is this right for me if I don’t usually like surprises?

If you dislike uncertainty but love well-planned trips, Wander Weekends can still be a great fit. While the destination is a surprise, everything else is carefully tailored to your preferences, comfort levels, and travel style. 

Many guests who were initially unsure say this ended up being their favourite part of the experience.

What if I’m nervous about the destination being a surprise?

That’s completely normal – and very common. We carefully select destinations based on your preferences, travel style, and comfort levels. You won’t be sent somewhere that doesn’t suit you, and we never include destinations that are impractical, unsafe, or low quality. 

Many of our guests say this was the most exciting part of the experience.

When will I find out where I’m going?

Your destination is revealed shortly before departure. You’ll receive everything you need to know in advance – including what to pack and where to go – without spoiling the surprise. You’ll never be left guessing about important logistics.

When will I know my airport check-in time?

Your full flight details will be revealed alongside your mystery destination on the morning of your departure (assuming you don’t ruin the surprise by opening one of your mystery envelopes early!). Rest assured, all check-in details are provided with plenty of time to travel comfortably.

How far in advance do I need to book?

All Wander Weekends require a minimum of eight weeks’ notice. This allows us to secure the best flights, accommodation, and experiences for your trip. However, we do occasionally have capacity and the right contacts to plan a trip sooner, so feel free to reach out to us and ask.

How long are Wander Weekend trips?

All our trips are three days and two nights, typically departing Friday morning and returning Sunday evening. If you have specific timing needs, please include them in your booking survey. Our Luxury package offers more flexibility around your schedule.

Can I choose my travel dates?

Yes. You choose your preferred dates when booking. We’ll confirm availability before finalising your itinerary.

Can I book over a public holiday?

Absolutely. Just keep in mind that travel costs are typically higher during holiday weekends. This means the budget we work with may not stretch quite as far as usual, which could result in fewer bonus extras beyond what’s included in your package – but the core experience will still be just as special.

Which cities can I fly out from?

We currently arrange flights from Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. If you're located elsewhere, please email us to discuss custom options.

Can we book the Corporate Wanderer for clients in different locations?

That’s no problem. The Corporate Wanderer (and indeed all of our packages) can be designed for recipients across New Zealand.

Can I customise my trip?

Absolutely! You’ll be asked about your travel preferences, interests, and any must-haves or deal-breakers, and we’ll hand-craft an unforgettable mystery weekend to suit.

Can the Corporate Wanderer be customised?

Yes. Every Corporate Wanderer is personalised. You can let us know preferred dates, the overall vibe, and any non-negotiables. We also carefully consider dietary requirements, accessibility needs, and comfort preferences.

What kind of accommodation is included?

Your accommodation will match your vibe and package, from simple boutique stays to luxury properties. Based on your preferences, we might book you into a cosy cabin, modern apartment, an elegant hotel – or even somewhere extremely fun and funky like a yurt.

Can I take checked luggage?

Wander Weekends are planned with carry-on only for ease of travel. If you need a checked bag, let us know in your survey. We’re happy to add it at the time we book your flights.

What should I pack for a mystery trip?

A week before your departure, we’ll email you the forecast for your surprise destination, along with a curated packing list. This ensures you're ready for anything, whether it’s city exploring, nature escapes or cosy downtime.

What if the weather isn’t great?

That’s New Zealand for you – four seasons in one day! We plan with seasonal conditions in mind and build flexibility into your itinerary where possible. If weather impacts an activity, we’ll ensure you still have a great experience with alternative options.

How does payment work?

You’ll pay in full at checkout via credit card or PayPal. Even if your trip is months away, we process the payment immediately for your security and will get to work immediately securing the best flights, accommodation, and experiences. We do not store payment details.

What if I need to cancel or change my booking?

Because Wander Weekends require advance bookings with third-party suppliers, cancellations and changes may incur fees. We’ll always be transparent about what’s possible and work with you where we can.

Is travel insurance included?

Travel insurance is not included, but we’re happy to organise it for you. Just email us for a personalised quote to cover your Wander Weekend.

What’s not included?

Meals are not included unless specified in your itinerary. However, we always strive to supply extra meals, experiences, and surprises along the way when budget allows. Fuel costs, personal spending, travel insurance, and any optional upgrades are not included unless stated.

Can I give a Wander Weekend as a gift?

Absolutely! Wander Weekends make an unforgettable gift. You can give a full Wander Weekends package or a gift voucher so the recipient can choose their dates and vibe when they’re ready.

Can I bring my children?

For sure! Check out our Family Wanderer package. Other Wander Weekends were designed with adults in mind, but family-friendly options are definitely available, so let us know what you have in mind before you book and we’ll be happy to arrange something for you.

Is airport transport and parking included?

Transport to your departure airport is not included, but we’ll share your itinerary early so you can arrange transfers. Many of our packages include a rental car or transfer at your destination, which will be stated in the product description.

Where can the Road Trip Wanderer start from?

Absolutely anywhere in New Zealand. This flexible package departs from your own driveway and takes you somewhere new.

How far will I drive on the Road Trip Wanderer?

Your drive will be between one and five hours from home (but let us know if you have an ideal drive time in mind). We keep things local, so you get more time to enjoy your destination.

What happens after I book?

Once you’ve booked, you’ll receive a confirmation email and a short questionnaire so we can tailor your trip. We’ll handle all the planning and be in touch with updates as your departure approaches.
